Welcome to The Freckled Moose! Our goal is to make you feel as though you’re a guest in our home. We serve delicious American home-style, stick-to-your-ribs food with highlights from chef Pete’s New England roots. We use fresh, seasonal ingredients served in a casual and homey environment. New England Cuisine Brought To NYC
Born in Massachusetts, Pete grew up with a love and appreciation for homemade food and everything outdoorsy. In fact, the Freckled Moose name is actually an old nickname of his! His passion for cooking developed at a young age when he was recruited to help his grandmother in her New England kitchen. “Baba” made everything from scratch and loved having her family together to enjoy her meals. This love for bringing people together over food was passed down to Peter, who made sure to include cookies from her personal and most beloved recipe on the dessert menu. Feel free to pop in anytime and ask him more about growing up in Carlisle; he loves to share his stories.
Pete’s chef skills have been polished over the years through experience at Mighty Quinn’s Barbecue and Red Hook Lobster Pound. He has already met many of you at Smorgasbord and Berg’n, and is looking forward to welcoming you at his first solo venture, the Freckled Moose, in Astoria.
